Pakistan’s Baloch Nushki Football Club makes international media headlines

Goal.com is an international football website famous for its catchy headlines and tabloid tales. The articles published on the site often have content quoted from other news sites, which means they very little research of their own. One such example is their latest article titled “Top 10 Worst Teams In The World” where Pakistani team Baloch Nushki FC have been included very unfairly.
The have been rated as the 8th worst team in the World:
8- Baloch (Pakistan)
The Nushki-based club have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons in the Pakistan Premier League. Baloch are bottom with two wins, two draws and a whopping 22 defeats from their 26 games. Peculiarly they also like to lose 3-0, as five of their last seven games have ended with this scoreline.
Source: Goal.com
The writers have clearly not researched the facts while writing this article. Baloch Nushki have lost five games where the scoreline was 3-0. These were all home games against Army, Navy, PAF, KRL and WAPDA. All these games were moved to Karachi by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) as the opponents refused to play in Nushki due to potential security issues. Baloch Nushki protested against this change and refused to honor these matches. As a result, they were awarded 3-0 losses. Same goes for Afghan FC from Chaman, their home matches were also moved and they too protested against this change.
Another potential reason why Baloch Nushki FC have failed to perform is the fact that the matches were organized in the scorching weather of Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Islamabad during July and August. Former Pakistan captain, chief selector, secretary-general of the PFF and the pioneer of the Pakistan Premier League (PPL) as its director technical Col. (retd.) Mujahidullah Tareen describes this situation here:
“The Afghan Chaman and Baloch Nushki teams could not perform well in Punjab in the hot and humid weather. As a result, they lost all their matches.”
Baloch Nushki were only recently promoted to Pakistan’s football top division, Pakistan Premier League. Even in European leagues, it is considered very normal for new comers to face tough fight for survival. Then why is Baloch Nushki facing all this criticism? In fact, Baloch Nushki being a small club with limited resources, should be encouraged and commended by local and international media for its achievements so far.
Do you agree with Pakool or think Baloch Nushki FC was rightly included in World’s worst football teams list?

I am not a fan of Baloch FC Nushki. But as they say, there is no such thing as bad publicity

Its not a dirty tactic, they have just used factual data and extrapolated it into a conclusion.
Frankly speaking, Baloch FC’s (and Afghan FC Chaman’s) refusal to play those 5 games should have actually made them suffer immediate disqualification from the Premier League as per FIFA Rules (Article 56, FIFA Displinary Code 2009).

Article 56: Abandonment
1. If a team refuses to play a match or to continue playing one which it has begun, it will be sanctioned with a minimum fine of CHF 10,000 and will, in principle, forfeit the match (cf. art. 31).
2. In serious cases, the team will also be disqualified from the competition in progress.

@ Ali Ahsan
I agree that Baloch’s refusal to play those matches could have resulted in disqualification and they would have no case to even appeal against it.
This is nice research you’ve done here
However, the point under discussion here is that Goal.com has not done any research on why Baloch have been losing. This particular line from their article says it all
“Peculiarly they also like to lose 3-0, as five of their last seven games have ended with this scoreline.”
This clearly shows they didn’t know about the forfeited matches. They’ve just used the stats and that’s all.

@ Sharjeel
I don’t think there is any conspiracy involved in this like a move to malign PK or something.

I think that the list is just something that comes up once in a while, like saying right now, Darlington are one of the the worst professional clubs in the world because they are bottom of league two…that doesn’t take into consideration their last four games have been postponed due to bad weather and the fact they nearly went into administrations….or like saying a striker who only scores two goals in the entire season, and saying each of his goals cost the team £5 million….i don’t think they take into consideration about the great goalkeepers he has come up against or the lack of creativity from the rest of his team…
and like Ali said, no such thing as bad publicity!!!

@ Naurang
That is very unfair if it was really the case. Do you have newspaper reference or website where this issue of bad referees has been raised? We can take this up with PFF!

I have to disagree with Naurang’s point of view. The reason Baloch FC lost all those games in Punjab and in Karachi and in Islamabad was not because of biased refereeing but because they are not good at all in terms of fitness and stamina. They were cannon fodder away from home.
Baloch FC actually appoint local refs at their games in Nushki and actually INTIMIDATE and THREATEN visiting teams to not win or else….they have a violent crowd that throws stones at visiting teams, esp. from Punjab. That was the reason their only two wins came against PEL FC and PMC Club Athletico Faisalabad because they appointed inexperienced local referees for the matches and have a bad crowd.
Same with Afghan FC Chaman who have a notorious crowd that actually riot against the visiting teams if they dare win a game in Chaman.
Of course, biased refereeing is the norm in Pakistani football unfortunately but it is not the only problem rest assured.

Also given that PEL FC and PMC Athletico are private clubs, the PFF dont give these teams much support and instead back the govt department teams (Army, WAPDA, KRL, Navy etc) to get favourable draws and match schedules while clubs can end up playing 5 games in 9 days!

Despite the fact tat baloch club nushki is a team of a small town but in this season they stand on 11th position out 16 With 8 wins and 12 draws.

Dawood Khan you are correct.
This 2010 PPL season Baloch FC Nushki have been VERY impressive and solid as a unit. They have tremendously improved after PFF decided to not relegate them (and PMC Athletico) to accommodate PPL expansion in 2010.
One more season in top flight, and Baloch FC will become part of PFF General Congress with voting rights
