PTI Poster PF 83 election results: A lot of positives for Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI)According to official results from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the joint candidate of ruling coalition Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has won the by-elections in PF-83 Swat-4. This means that Rehmat Ali Khan has retained the seat which had fallen vacant due to sad demise of his brother and MPA, Shamsher Ali Khan.

The numbers released by ECP look like this:

2010
Total registered voters: 114,568
Votes casted: 21,111
Valid votes: 20,513
Invalid votes: 598

Rehmat Ali Khan (ANP & PPP): 7,505 votes (36.58 %)
Jalat Khan (PML-Q): 3,884 votes (18.93 %)
Sher Khan (PTI): 3,821 votes (18.62 %)

PF 83 Swat 4 2010 by elections PF 83 election results: A lot of positives for Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI)

PTI came a very close third with difference of only 63 votes from second placed PML-Q. It is interesting to note that had ANP and PPP not put up a joint candidate, the competition would have been even close. Moreover, Rehmat Ali Khan surely benefited from sympathy votes due to the sad incidents that led to his brother’s demise around two months ago.

Lets take a look at this constituency from a historical perspective. The 2008 general election results prove how withdrawal of PPP candidate in favor of ANP during 2010 by-elections helped the later:

2008
Shamsher Ali Khan (ANP): 4,726 votes
Firoz Shah (PML-Q): 3,295 votes
Najeebullah Khan (PPP): 2,807 votes

When PTI last contested elections in PF-83 during 2002 general elections, the results were very different. PTI got only 716 votes (2.79%) out of the total 25,607 valid votes casted. Out of total nine candidates, PTI came a humble third from last.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has come a long way in this journey from third from last to third from top. The party is much more experienced and organized now, with its leadership committed towards betterment of Pakistan. PTI is becoming increasingly popular in the masses because of its sincere ideology and competent leadership. Tehreek-e-Insaf is bound to come out as a major contender in next polls, whenever they take place.

Well does any party perform well in all areas? Like in many areas on Punjab, PPP failed. In Karachi only MQM dominated. Out of two results you cant say PTI failed. PTI is no doubt rising fast.
