Public Opinion: Afridi should lead Pakistan cricket team!

After Pakistan’s disastrous tour of Australia, we started a poll on Pakool.com asking our visitors to let us know who should lead the Pakistan cricket team. Over 700 votes were casted and finally the results are out.
The large majority of voters think Shahid Afridi is best choice for Pakistan captain. A massive 65% people voted in favour of Adridi, and the closest contender is Younis Khan with just 12% votes.

World Cup Hockey Group-B wide open as Pak wins and India falls

After first day’s poor performance against India, which resulted in a 4-1 thrashing by hosts, Pakistan recovered well by beating Olympic silver-medalist Spain 2-1 in a thrilling encounter. Pakistan dominated play and created most chances of the match. Rehan Butt, however, looked off form as he missed at least two good chances during the first half. Abdul Haseem Khan‘s opener was canceled by Spain five minutes from time. Pakistan won the first ever Hockey World Cup in 1971, and then brought the biggest prize in hockey back home again in 1978, 1982 and 1994. This is probably not the exact way how Ijaz Butt was hired, but it was obvious right from the start that his appointment as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman had something to do with the fact that he is brother-in-law of Ahmad Mukhtar. Inspite of ball-tempering, Afridi is and will always be a national hero!

Most might not agree with this, but what Shahid Afridi did was not that bad as the media is describing it. Ball-tempering is a form of cheating, and cheating is totally unacceptable. But lets not ignore that the circumstances under which this particular incident took place were extra-ordinary.

Video: Pak progress to U-19 semis after a thrilling match with India!

The match was reduced to only 23 overs per innings due to rain, but this did not stop it from being a exciting match. India made 114 runs for 9 and Pakistan chased the total with three balls remaining. It was not smooth sailing and Pakistan had to work hard to achieve their target. Young Fayyaz Butt was declared player of the match for his 4 wickets against the defending champions.
Pakistan now meet West Indies in the first semi-final on Monday.

Pakistan young guns to meet India in U-19 World Cup quaters tonite!

Pakistan are set to meet arch-rivals India in the quarter-finals of Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Both teams have strong squads and the match will surely live to its expectations as any other IndoPak fixture no matter what the sport. India are the defending champions and will look to keep the title for another two years till the next World Cup in 2012. Pakistan are unbeaten in the tournament so far and topped their pool.

Pakistan players get IPL snub, still Aman ki Asha anyone?

Snubbing of all Pakistani players during the IPL auction comes as nothing less than a sucker punch for ‘Aman ki Asha’ campaign. This rather humiliating saga has renewed hatred and mistrust between Pakistan and India. How much do Pakistani cricketers earn? Here’s the answer

Ever wonder how much our cricketers earn? Well the answer is simple: They earn a lot!
Here the details of the what Pakistan Cricket Board pays out to players under central contract:
Test match fee for a Category A player: Rs. 350,000
One-day international match fee for a Category A player: Rs. 300,000
Twenty20 match fee for a Category A player: Rs. 125,000
PCB also offers the following performance-based bonuses to contracted cricketers:
