Government of Pakistan increased the price of petrol a further Rs.6.10 per litre on Sunday. Which means from today petrol will be sold at Rs.71.21 per litre. The astonishing and somewhat debatable aspect here is that the government taxes the petrol at around 39%. Explained here:
Ex-refinery price of petrol: Rs.42.72 per litre
Transportation charges: Rs.4.42 per litre
Dealers’ commission: Rs.2.36 per litre
Oil marketing company’s profit: Rs.1.89
Total price without taxes: Rs.51.39 per litre
On top of this, the government charges petroleum development levy as well as sales tax:
Petroleum development levy: Rs.10

According to official results from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the joint candidate of ruling coalition Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has won the by-elections in PF-83 Swat-4. This means that Rehmat Ali Khan has retained the seat which had fallen vacant due to sad demise of his brother and MPA, Shamsher Ali Khan.
